Waseca netters shut out B.E. Area

WASECA – The Waseca Bluejays blanked the Blue Earth Area Bucs 7-0 during South Central Conference boys tennis action on Thursday in Waseca.

John Lewer and Ben Johnson combined for shutouts at first and third singles for the Bluejays, beating Leon Chaudhari and Justus Thelen, 6-0, 6-0, respectively.

Matt Wendland received a forfeit at the No. 4 singles spot, while Ryan Von Ende completed the sweep of the singles bracket with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Chandler Kienitz at second singles.

The Bluejays’ second and third doubles teams shut out the Bucs for a pair of victories.

Dakota Johnson and Michael Butterfield combined to beat Spencer Petersen and Parker Kienitz 6-0, 6-0 at second doubles, before Andy Haley and Marcus DeKruif beat Mason Hehr and Spenser Timmerman with matching set scores of 6-0.

Josh Kimball and Josh Metzdorff then teamed to complete the meet sweep with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles over Jaron King and Martin Granados.

Blue Earth Area (0-1, 0-1 SCC) travels to St. Peter for a conference dual meet at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter.
