Betta M. Christensen

FAIRMONT – Memorial service for Betta M. Christensen, 88, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2014, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fairmont. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 11, until the time of the service (10:30) at the church.

Betta passed away Monday morning, April 7, 2014, at the Goldfinch Estates Memory Care in Fairmont.

Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of the arrangements for the family.

Betta Margaret (Walker) Christensen was born May 30, 1925, in East Chain, Minn., the daughter of Clarence and Margaret (Bartlett) Walker. She attended and graduated from the East Chain High School. On June 15, 1947, Betta was united in marriage to Harold K. Christensen in Fairmont. Together they raised three children, Linda, Larry and Keith. Betta loved to cook and bake for family and friends. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 Auxiliary and the Martin Co. VFW Post 1222 Auxiliary where she was a past President. Harold passed away on June 21, 2006.

Betta is survived by two sons, Larry Christensen and his wife, Donna, of Fairmont and their children, Tim, Nathan, Brandon, and Eric; Keith Christensen and his wife, Paula, of Zephyrhills, Fla., and their children, Cody and Cory; son-in-law, Ron Barr of Belvidere, Ill., and his children, Margo, Ronnie and Ariel; many great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Clarena Rode of Fairmont; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Clarence and Margaret Walker, and her husband, Harold Christensen, Betta was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Barr; brother, Kenneth Walker and brother-in-law, Rudy Rode.
