Cardinals sweep indoor

MANKATO – The Fairmont boys and girls track teams swept their second indoor meet of the season on Friday at the Minnesota State University Mankato.

The Cardinal girls scored a meet-high 199 points, while the boys topped their competition with a score of 147.

Tri-City United (139.5) and United South Central/Alden-Conger (59.5) finished second and third in the girls competition.

Minnesota Valley Lutheran finished fourth in the girls team scoring with 57, while Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop rounded out the team scoring with a fifth-place total of 36.

For the boys, TCU earned a second-place score of 119, while USC/AC netted 91 points for third place.

Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop finished fourth in the meet with 61 points and Minnesota Valley Lutheran was fifth with 60 points.

Individual results will be available in Monday’s paper.

Fairmont will open up the outdoor season with a meet against St. Peter at 4:15 on Tuesday in Fairmont.
