Mary G. Hansen
FENTON, Iowa – Funeral services for Mary G. Hansen, 83, of Fenton, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at United Methodist Church in Fenton, Iowa, with Pastor Judy DePue, officiating. Interment will be in Methodist Cemetery, Fenton.
Mary passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Algona, Iowa.
Mary Georgia (Newel) Hansen was born Aug. 9, 1930, in Fenton, Iowa, the daughter of George and Dagmar (Olesen) Newel. She received her education and graduated from Fenton High School. On June 4, 1947, Mary was united in marriage to Arnold Hansen. The couple made their home in Fenton where they raised their family and Mary worked as a teller and clerk at the bank for 33 years. The couple enjoyed spending winters in Texas. Arnold passed away June 6, 2009. Mary was an active member of the United Methodist Church serving as church organist in Fenton. She was a member of Eastern Star serving as Past Grand Officer.
Left to cherish Mary’s memory are her children, Randa Hansen of Mission, Texas, Roger Hansen and his wife, Diane of Whittemore, Iowa, and Martha Hansen and her husband, Jay Wallish of Roseville, Minn.; and five grandchildren, Jeremy Hansen, Jacob Hansen, Jenna Hansen, George Wallish, and Jack Wallish.
Preceding Mary in death are her parents; husband; and brother, Eugene.
