Joyce A. Henriksen

FAIRMONT – Services for Joyce A. Henriksen, 78, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Burial will be held in St. John’s Cemetery near Ringsted, Iowa.

Joyce passed away Monday morning, March 10, 2014, at her home in Fairmont. Visitation will be two hours prior to the time of service, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont.

Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Joyce Ann (Schleininger) Henriksen was born Dec. 9, 1935, in Madelia, Minn., the daughter of Leon and Florence (Brecht) Schleininger. She attended school in Granada and graduated from Granada High School. On Feb. 12, 1955, Joyce was united in marriage to George D. Pearson in Fairmont, Minn. The couple later divorced in 1979. Joyce was blessed to find love again when she met and married Donald F. Henriksen on July 7, 1980, in Mankato, Minn. Together the couple made their home in Fairmont.

Joyce cared for the Ahlsworth children while their parents, Lloyd and Evelyn managed the Fairmont Airport. Joyce was also a certified nursing assistant for many years. Joyce was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, cooking and had a special place in her heart for pets.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Donald Henriksen of Fairmont, Minn.; brother, Leon E. Schleininger and his wife, Ardis; a half-brother, Steven Hanssen; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Florence Schleininger; and a brother, Larry F. Schleininger.
