Helen Nadine Davey
CRYSTAL – Helen Nadine Davey entered heaven’s gates on March 6, 2014, at the age of 89. Nadine (her chosen name) was born Jan. 26, 1925, in Fox Lake Township, Martin County, Minn. Nadine graduated from Ceylon High School in 1942 and entered Mankato Teacher’s College, and went on to teach at the one-room country schools and in Trimont, Minn. She completed her bachelor of science degree in elementary education at Mankato State College in 1965. Nadine’s older sister, Leta, told their father not to waste money sending Nadine to college because “she would never make it being a teacher.” How wrong sweet Leta was. Nadine moved to the Twin Cities and taught at St. Louis Park Elementary School. She started teaching at Fourth Baptist Christian School in 1967 and retired from there in 2000 after 33 years of service.
Nadine was faithful to her Lord to the very end, never doubting she was serving a higher calling – as a teacher, “mother,” daughter, sister, aunt and friend. When she arrived in heaven, it must have been an amazing, rewarding, jewel-drenched occasion. At last she arrived home and met the One she loved and served with the entirety of her life.
Nadine is survived by her two brothers, Keith Davey (Yvonne) of Chesapeake, Va., and Lowell Davey (Georgie) of Matthews, N.C. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her beyond words.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Hazel Davey; and her two sisters, DeLores Henry and Leta Wohlenhaus.
