URBANDALE, Iowa – Services for Janet L. Musser, 90, of Urbandale, Iowa, formerly of Fairmont, will be 11 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Fairmont. Burial will follow the service in Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont.
Janet passed away Sunday afternoon, March 9, 2014, at her home in Urbandale, Iowa. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church, Fairmont.
Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Janet L. (Campe) Musser was born Aug. 31, 1923, in Easton, Minn., the daughter of Oscar and Amanda (Meyer) Campe. She attended country school and later attended East Chain High School, graduating in 1942. On May 19, 1946, Janet was united in marriage to George Musser at St. Paul’s Evangelical Reformed Church in Welcome, Minn. Together, the couple made their home in Fairmont, where they were blessed with two children, Doug and Rod. Janet worked many years for the Fairmont Telephone Company. She also worked for Harsco and retired in 1986. In their retirement, George and Janet enjoyed traveling and playing golf. Janet was very active in her community and enjoyed volunteering when able. She was a life member of the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center Auxiliary and life member of the Martin County VFW Post 1222 Women’s Auxiliary. Janet was a member of the Fairmont United Methodist Church, where she helped teach Sunday School and Bible School and served on Esther Circle.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Douglas Musser and his wife, Chris, of Des Moines, Iowa, and Rodney Musser and his wife, Cheryl, of Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren, Carrie (Jeff) Dieken of Cedar Calls, Iowa, Allison (Josh) Steuterman, Katie (Chris) Snowbarger, Sam (Kristy) Musser, and Jared (Stefanie) Musser all of Des Moines, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Johnna and Mattie Dieken, Ella and Graham Steuterman, Jack and Amelia Snowbarger, Kassy and Myles Musser, and Liam Musser; sister, Beverly Brummond of Sioux Falls, S.D.; sisters-in-law, Hazel Musser of Fairmont, Minn., and Eva Jean Musser of Longmont, Colo.; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Amanda Campe; husband, George Musser; brother, Dean Campe; sister, June Nowicki; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Campe, Nina Musser and Clarice Schuster; and brothers-in-law, Vernon Musser, Wilbur Musser, Warren Musser, Jerry Brummond, Ambrose Nowicki and Ed Schuster.
