Dennis W. Guerdet

ARMSTRONG – Mass of Christian Burial for Dennis W. Guerdet will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, with Father Sunni Dominic, celebrant, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Armstrong, Iowa. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Armstrong.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Armstrong. Vigil service will be 7 p.m. today at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Armstrong.

Dennis William Guerdet, son of Leo and Florence (Flier) Guerdet, was born Dec. 16, 1942, in Armstrong. He passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Heritage Home in Bancroft, Iowa, at the age of 71.

Dennis received his education and graduated from Sentral High School.

On Nov. 27, 1965, he was united in marriage to Virginia Gisch at St. Cecelia’s Roman Catholic Church in Algona, Iowa. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in rural Swea City, Iowa, where they raised their four children. He loved farming, raising cattle and spending time with his family, but most importantly his grandchildren. For hobbies, Dennis enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and woodworking. Virginia died on April 23, 2013.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Armstrong, Iowa, and was also a member of the Beef Producers and Knights of Columbus.

Left to cherish Dennis’ memory are his children, Angie Kollasch and her husband Randy of Swea City; David Guerdet and his wife Jana of Armstrong; and Tony Guerdet and his wife Kelly of Schaumburg, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, Dalton, Marissa and Olivia Guerdet; Nikki, Ben, Brandon and Miranda Kollasch; Jordan, Kirsten and Preston Guerdet; brother, Dwight Guerdet and his wife Jayne of Armstrong; and sister, Waunita Hoss and husband Ken of Le Mars, Iowa.

Preceding Dennis in death were his parents; two infant sisters; brother, Douglas; son, Dan; and wife, Virginia.
