Viola Mae (Adams) Quiggle was born Jan. 26, 1924, on a farm in East Chain Township, Martin County, Minn., the daughter of Earl F. and S. Fern (Loukes) Adams. She attended country school in Pleasant Prairie Township. On Dec. 16, 1946, Viola was united in marriage to Vernald F. Landin. Together, the couple made their home on a farm in Center Creek Township, where they were blessed with two sons, Vernald and Warren. The family farmed until 1951, when the family moved to Granada, Minn. Two daughters, Carolyn and Gloria were added to the family. Viola then began working for Armour Foods in Fairmont. In 1980, Vernald passed away. Viola would find love again when she later married Phillip Quiggle. Viola retired from Armour Foods in 1986. Viola was a busy woman who enjoyed taking pictures, listening to music, playing Rummikub, and making sure when friends and family visited that there were plenty of homemade cookies, candies, and fudge. She especially treasured time spent with family watching old slide shows while eating popcorn and fudge. Her relationship with Jesus Christ was extremely important to Viola. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Granada and remained a member until the church closed. While there, Viola worked as a bookkeeper and also as a Sunday school teacher for many years and also served her church in many various volunteer projects. She later joined the Park Assembly of God Church in St. Louis Park, Minn., while staying with her daughter. Her grace and loving and caring ways will be greatly missed by those that loved her and called her their friend.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Vernald (Lillian) Landin of Lake Wales, Fla., Warren (Barbara) Landin of Hackensack, Minn., Carolyn (Terry) Reynolds of Plymouth, Minn., and Gloria (Curtis) Girod of Dewitt, Iowa; grandchildren, Anna Landin, Christina Radford, Breda (Troy) Day, Benjamin (April) Landin, William Landin, Blain Landin, Caleb Reynolds, Cara Reynolds, Christopher (Galina) Girod, and Andrew Girod; great-grandchildren, Allyson Radford, Taylor Day, Marina Day, Leah Landin, and Madison Landin; sister-in-law, Lola Quiggle of Fairmont, Minn.; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
