Richard E. Adams

WINNEBAGO – Funeral services for Richard E. Adams, 76, of Winnebago, Minn., will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, in Winnebago, Minn. with Rev. William Sabol officiating. Interment will be in Nashville Cemetery, rural Winnebago.

Richard died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at his home in rural Winnebago. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Zaharia Family Funeral and Cremation Service of Truman, and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.

Richard Earl Adams was born May 17, 1937, in Winnebago, Minn., to Lee and Mildred (Vickerman) Adams. Richard attended school in Huntley, Minn. After his father’s death, he and his brother helped run the family farm. On June 18, 1954, Richard was united in marriage to Arlene Black at the Lutheran Church in Winnebago. Together, they ran a diversified farm until his retirement. Richard was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, boat building and woodworking. Richard loved playing the “large and growly bear” for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Richard is survived by his wife of 59 years, Arlene Adams of Winnebago; two daughters, Nancy Kastner of Delavan, Minn., and Sharon (Stan) Skaro of Pennock, Minn.; one son, Robert Adams of Winnebago, Minn.; two grandsons; four great-grandsons; and one sister-in-law, Joan Adams of Winnebago, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; twin children, Charles and Donna; one grandson, Curtis Adams; and one brother, Alan Adams.
