Cardinals hammer Tigers

BELLE PLAINE – Fairmont center Kayla Lardy collected a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds to guide the Cardinals to a 71-25 rout over the Belle Plaine Tigers during nonconference basketball action on Thursday night in Belle Plaine.

Sierra Schultz produced solid all-around numbers of 10 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals to pack punch to the win.

Emily Kim scored 10 points to complement three assists and a game-high eight steals for Fairmont, while Alex Christianson supplied 10 points and four steals.

Pauli Anderson netted six points, Kristen Campe and Haley Harder each scored five points, while Sierra Schrader and Sophie Brau added four points each to the victory.

The Cardinals connected on 27 of 56 shots from 2-point range, 1 of 5 from 3-point territory and 14 of 23 at the line.

Fairmont (1-1) travels to Waseca tonight.

Larissa Becker and Marisa Nelson each scored eight to top the Cardinals, while Alexis Bass chipped in four points and five steals.

Abby Fitzgerald garnered four boards, while Emily Kloeckner doled out three assists.

Belle Plaine downed Fairmont, 30-26, during C-squad action Thursday in Belle Plaine.

Aly Lardy scored eight points to top the Cardinals, while Brooke Hunwardsen chipped in four points.
