FAIRMONT -Memorial services for Jean Johnson, 92, of Fairmont, will be 11a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at Grace Lutheran Church, Fairmont. Inurnment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont.
Jean passed away Tuesday morning, Nov. 12, 2013, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, and will continue one hour prior to the services Saturday at the church.
Marjorie Jean (Minor) Johnson was born June 26, 1921, in Fairmont, Minn., the daughter of Harry H. and Mathilda E. (Rettke) Minor. She graduated from Fairmont High School in 1939. Jean was united in marriage to Marvin Johnson on Aug. 25, 1940, in Armstrong, Iowa. Marvin and Jean lived in Welcome for a couple of years before moving to Jackson, Minn., in March of 1942. In May of 1988, they moved to Fairmont. They enjoyed wintering in Mission, Texas, from 1984 to 2003. Jean was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont and some of her hobbies included: fishing, rock hunting and needlework. Jean was also a co-coordinator with the “Meals on Wheels” program from its beginning in Jackson. Those who will cherish her memory include: her husband of 73 years, Marvin J. Johnson of Fairmont; two sons, James F. Johnson and his wife, Sharon of Prior Lake, and Robert P. Johnson and his wife, Beverly of Prior Lake; grandson, Jeffery J. Johnson and his children, Reese Lu and Ian of St. Louis Park, Minn.; granddaughter, Jennifer Schmidt and her husband, Tim and children, Devon and Joseph of Rosemount, Minn.; granddaughter, Deanna K. Johnson and son, Levi of Austin, Texas; sister, June Schultz and her husband, Loren of Welcome; sister-in-law, Carol Stewart of Duncan, Okla.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents.
