Kenneth Fred Stoneback was born Dec. 30, 1922, in East Chain Township, Martin County, Minn. He was the son of Fred and Erma (Fuller) Stoneback. Kenneth and his parents later moved to Fraser Township when Kenneth was 4 years old. He attended Fairmont public schools and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1940. After graduation, the family purchased a farm east of Fairmont. On June 2, 1956, Kenneth was united in marriage to Mary Louise Teeter at her parent’s home in Fairmont. The couple built a house on the farm where they live to this day. The couple was blessed with three children, Melody, Kevin and Lisa. Kenneth and Mary shared 57 years together. Kenneth farmed all of his life. Just a few days before passing away, he was on his tractor preparing the corn fields for next year’s crop. When Kenneth was a teenager, he cultivated his love of farming as a member of FFA and 4-H. As an adult, he served as a 4-H leader for 20 years and a 4-H council member for eight. Kenneth was an active member of the East Side Farm Club. On the farm, in his kind and gentle way, he raised Jersey cows, hogs, chickens and many crops. He enjoyed tending several flower gardens and nurturing a wide variety of vegetables in his vegetable gardens. He was very generous with his produce, giving it away to family, friends and the community. Kenneth could often be seen in his yard, making sure it was looking its best. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. At 50 days shy of his 91st birthday, Kenneth was a role model who will be sorely missed.

Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Mary Louise Stoneback of Fairmont, Minn.; children, Melody Sanders and her husband, Duane, of East Chain, Minn., Kevin Stoneback and his wife, Kathryn, of Fairmont, Minn., and Lisa Ward and her husband, Jerry, of Eagan, Minn.; grandchildren, Heather Pint and her husband, Karl, of Belle Plaine, Minn., Jennifer Reinsma and her husband, Joe, of Maple Grove, Minn., Mary Sanders of Mendota Heights, Sherri Stoneback and special friend, Craig Utech, of Plymouth, Minn., and Christopher Stoneback and his wife, Nicole, of Burnsville, Minn.; four great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Ray Teeter of Slayton, Minn.; other relatives and friends.
