Roxann M. Hample

JACKSON – Funeral service for Roxann M. Hample, 62, of Jackson, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Jackson with Pastors Christopher Drew and Brian Wohlhuter officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Roxann was called to her eternal Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington after a courageous five-year battle with ovarian cancer. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today and one hour prior to services Saturday, both at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Jackson. Arrangements by the Osterberg Funeral Home in Jackson. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Roxann Marie Wohlhuter was born Sept. 13, 1951, in Trimont, Minn., to Lowell and Mildred (Madsen) Wohlhuter. She graduated from Welcome High School in 1969. She attended Southwest State University in Marshall and graduated in 1973 with a major in German and English. On July 28, 1973, Roxann was united in marriage to Dennis Hample at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome, Minn. They lived in Jackson their entire life, raising their two children Alison and Ryan there. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Jackson. Rox taught German at Jackson High School and Jackson County Central for 39 years, retiring in May of 2012. Her love and respect of her students and fellow staff members resulted in her being named Teacher of the Year in 1993 and 2009. She was also chosen as Most Appreciated Teacher by the students in 2011. Rox enjoyed high school sporting events, those of her own children and her students. She kept the scorebook for Jackson volleyball games for 38 years. She was a Prom advisor for 20 years and was the Continuing Education chairperson for the school district. Rox treasured spending time with her family and friends. Her children and grandchildren, Harper and Beckett, were the joy of her life and she spent as much time as possible having fun with them. A favorite summer activity was spending time at Okoboji. She also enjoyed walking, golfing, scrapbooking and good conversation over coffee.

She will be greatly missed by her husband, Dennis, of Jackson, Minn.; her daughter, Alison (Kris) Lien of Andover, Minn.; her son, Ryan (Lindsay) Hample of Minnetonka, Minn.; two grandchildren, Harper and Beckett Lien of Andover; parents, Lowell and Millie Wohlhuter of Fairmont, Minn.; brother, Greg (Lisa) Wohlhuter of Welcome; father-in-law, Roy Hample of Jackson; brother-in-law, Barry (Luci) Hample of Clearwater, Minn.; sister-in-law, Linda (Cal) Drews of Mound, Minn.; sister-in-law, Carol (Dave) Lewis of River Falls, Wis.; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Rox was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Ardus Hample; her great-nephew, Owen Price; and her grandparents.
