Elaine R. Harder
JACKSON – Elaine R. Harder, 65, of Jackson passed away at the St. Anthony Health Care Center in Minneapolis on Sept. 24, 2013. Memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Jackson, with Pastor Lance Issacson officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rosehill Mennonite Cemetery in Westbrook.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at Osterberg Funeral Home.
ELAINE RUPP HAR-DER was born Dec. 27, 1947, in Windom, Minn., the daughter of Russell and Eunice (Haas) Rupp. She graduated from Storden High School in 1966 and later graduated from Mankato State University in 1970. She was united in marriage to Ronald Harder on July 17, 1970, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook. After marriage, they moved to Jackson. She had been a home economics teacher in St. James and Lakefield, had a radio show for Windom radio, columnist for Purple Circle magazine, office manager for Harder Livestock, a sales person for the Livewire Printing Company, an Extension Agent for the Cottonwood County, insurance agent for Harder and Associates Insurance Company, a five-term state representative for District 22B in the Minnesota House and a freelance public relationship agent for Farmer’s Co-op for its 100th anniversary. Elaine moved to the Chandler Complex in 2011 in Minneapolis, where she passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at the age of 65 years, 8 months and 28 days.
Elaine was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook and later became a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Jackson, where she had been on the church council for many years. She was also a member of the Jackson Kiwanis, Sanford Hospital Board, and Chamber of Commerce. She was a very active member of the Republican Party and had been a founding member of the Beta Clovia Sorority while going to school in Mankato. She had also been a member of many boards in her life time.
Elaine is survived by her two children, Graydon (Lisa) Harder of Minneapolis, Minn., and Nicole (Ivan) Luk of Fresno, Calif.; one grandson, Edward Harder and two siblings, Murl (Mary) Rupp of Westbrook, Minn., and Cecilie (Roger) Teerink of Worthington, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents.
