FAIRMONT – Funeral service for Ruth Philipp, 89, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park in Fairmont. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church Monday.
Ruth passed Thursday morning, Sept. 26, 2013, at the Ingleside Residence in Fairmont.
Ruth Dorothy Marie (Benck) Philipp was born on June 7, 1924, as a gift of God to Henry and Emilie (Schwieger) Benck. She was received into the Kingdom of God by the Sacrament of Holy Baptism and she reaffirmed her faith in the rite of Confirmation on April 2, 1939, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Ruth was united in marriage to Lester M. Philipp on June 27, 1942, and they farmed near Guckeen for many years. They moved into Fairmont in 1979. Lester passed away on February 21, 1998.
Ruth is survived by three sons, Gary Philipp and his wife, Janice, of Monticello, Minn., Dennis Philipp of Granada, Minn., Eugene Philipp and his wife, Donna, of Circle Pines, Minn.; two daughters, Diane Evans and her husband, John, of Fairmont, Gaylene Gunberg and her husband, Peter, of Coon Rapids, Minn; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Leona Benck of Fairmont; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lester, Ruth was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Della Philipp; great grandson, Hunter Philipp; two sisters, Caroline Fritz and Bernice Meyer; two brothers, Walter and Herbert Benck; other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
