Eagles shut out Cardinals

EDGERTON – The Southwest Minnesota Christian Eagles shut out the Fairmont Area Cardinals boys soccer team 7-0 in nonconference action on Saturday in Edgerton.

Nathan Pfeifle scored two goals to lead the Eagles’ offense.

Fairmont Area fired 10 shots on net in the game.

Cardinal netminder Trason Arens stopped 16 of the Eagles 24 shots on goal, including 14 in the first half.

Fairmont Area (2-10, 1-5 SCC) plays host to Waseca in a South Central Conference game at 7 p.m. today at the Kot Soccer Complex in Fairmont.

Southwest Minnesota Christian downed Fairmont 8-1 in C-squad soccer action on Saturday in Edgerton.

Reynaldo Escalante scored the Cardinals’ only goal in the game.

Jarrod Daniel and Thomas Havnen made a combined 18 saves in the game for Fairmont Area.
