Richard ‘Rich’ Bruce Meyer

MANKATO – Funeral services for Richard “Rich” Bruce Meyer, 64, of Mankato, will be 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, North Mankato, with Rev. Peter Nosbush, officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Glenwood Cemetery, Mankato.

Rich passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato. Visitation will be held 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, and continue one hour prior to services Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Clair Athletic Backers or Mayo Clinic Health Systems Hospice-Mankato.

Rich was born May 29, 1949, in Mankato, to Paul and Wilda (Gifford) Meyer. Rich graduated from Mankato High School and then served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1969-1972. He was united in marriage to Vicki Wendland on Dec. 6, 1969. Rich joined the family business Meyer and Son’s and later became its president. Rich worked in the Mankato area for over 31 years and was active in the local community. He was a member of Kiwanis, American Legion, VFW, Citizens Police Academy, Mankato Home Builders and past president of the Curling Club. Rich was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Rich enjoyed curling, fishing, boating, camping/visiting, and attending his grandchildren’s activities.

He is survived by his daughter, Kim (Ross) Carlson of St. Clair, Minn.; two grandchildren, Andrew and Allison; father, Paul (Doris) Meyer of Mankato; sister, Marna (Dennis) Billings of Johnston, Iowa; two brothers, Mike (Pat) Meyer of Maple Lake, Minn., and Steve (Diana) Meyer of Mason City, Iowa; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilda; wife, Vicki in 2012; and son, Brandon in 1995.
