Rockets ground Cardinals

ROCHESTER – The Rochester John Marshall Rockets blasted the Fairmont Area Cardinals 12-0 in nonconference boys soccer action on Friday in Rochester.

Rocket junior Ayomide Adbayo netted four of the home team’s 10 first-half goals and assisted on another to help garner the victory.

Konrad Laack also found the net for the Rockets by scoring twice, while Cole Alward, Brett Cornforth, Sami Shanaa and Ashton Naumann scored the other first-half goals.

Alem Susic and Armin Heldovac generated the two Rockets’ tallies in the second half.

Fairmont Area recorded six shots on net, while the Rockets fired 22 shots in the game.

The Cardinals’ Trevor Iverson and Drew Anderson shared the goaltending duties in the first half, with Sam Havnen taking net in the second half.

Fairmont Area (0-2) travels to play New Ulm at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Martin Luther College in New Ulm.

Reynaldo Escalante and Thomas Havnen combined for a pair of Fairmont Area goals in a 5-2 loss to Rochester John Marshall during C-squad soccer action on Friday.

Escalente scored the first Cardinal goal, with assist to Havnen, before Havnen netted a tally with a helper from Escalente.

Jarrod Daniel made 11 saves for Fairmont Area, while the Cardinals fired 6 shots on net.
