Thomas R. Stinar

JACKSON – Funeral services for Thomas R. Stinar, 85, of Jackson, will be 10:30 a.m. today at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Hunter Township, Jackson County. Burial with full military honors provided by the Jackson American Legion and VFW Posts, will be in Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Minneota Township, Jackson County.

Stinar died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services today at the church.

Osterberg Funeral Home of Jackson is in charge of arrangements.

Thomas Richard Stinar was born Feb. 28, 1928, in Minneota Township, Jackson County, son of Joseph and Anna (Kmetz) Stinar. In 1945, He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps where he trained to become a flight engineer. In 1951, he was recalled into the U.S. Air Force for the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife, Grace, of Jackson; his son, Joseph Stinar of St. Paul; daughters, Janet Eastes of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Mary Sparno of Fountain Valley, Calif.; five grandchildren; and sister, Anita Meyer of Anaheim, Calif.
