Donald G. Worthley

SPENCER, Iowa – Celebration of Life services for Donald G. Worthley, 93, of Spencer, Iowa, formerly of Sherburn, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Sherburn Assembly of God Regional Worship Center, Sherburn. Burial will be in Lone Cedar Cemetery, rural Sherburn.

Worthley died Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at his home in Spencer, Iowa, under hospice. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Saturday at the worship center in Sherburn. Kramer Family Funeral Home of Sherburn is in charge of arrangements.

Donald Gemmill Worthley was born Jan. 8, 1920, in Sherburn, Minn., son of Frank and Edith (Gemmill) Worthley. Donald served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He was honorably discharged and was the recipient of the Chaplin’s Coin.

Survivors include: sons, Alvin Worthley of Springfield, Mo., Leland Worthley of Orange City, Iowa, Gaylen Worthley of Brooklyn Park, Minn., and Merlene Anderson of West Lafayette, Ind.; daughters, Marlys Olson of Scandia, Minn., Carolyn Clary of Fort Collins, Col., Marilyn Ladwig of Spencer, Iowa, and Marlene Eskelson of Anoka, Minn.; 23 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; sister, Eva Jean Musser of Longmont, Col.; and his brother, Darrell Worthley of Shipshewana, Ind.
