Vincent ‘Roy’ Cade
SHOREVIEW – Mass of Christian burial for Vincent “Roy” Cade, 95, of Shoreview, will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at St. Odilia Catholic Church, 3495 N. Victoria, Shoreview.
Roy passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at his home. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at the church.
Roy served in the Military Railway Service in North Africa during WWII. His parents were both immigrants, his father from England and mother from Scotland. Roy grew up in Ortonville and lived in Fairmont and St. Paul, working first for F.O.K. and later for Curtis 1000. Roy was active in many organizations, including Men’s Club of Holy Childhood, Knights of Columbus, Fairmont Civic Summer Theatre, Fairmont Opera House, Interlaken Golf Club, Citizens Scholarship Foundation (named to the Citizens Scholarship Foundation of America Dollars For Scholars National Honor Roll), American Legion, VFW, and Guardian ad Litem Program. He served on the board of the Fairmont Library and Lakeview United Methodist Health Services, and was also elected to serve on the Fairmont City Council. When he wasn’t spending time with his family or volunteering, Roy enjoyed his passion for golf, playing until age 92.
Survived by children, Patty (Dave) Kotewa, Joe, Greg (Jan), Jane (Dave Young), Cathleen (Chuck) Johnson; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; niece, Patty Teel; nephews, Jim and Dick Anderson. Preceded in death by wife, Margaret (Thibault); sons, John T., John F., and daughter Mary Ellen (Greg) Keck.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to donor’s choice.
