Anna L. Pehrson
ARMSTRONG, Iowa – Funeral service for Anna Leona Pehrson will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Armstrong, Iowa, with Pastor Vance Toivonen officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Armstrong. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery.
Anna Leona (Burt) Pehrson, the daughter of Andrew and Elsie (Beck) Burt, was born June 29, 1918, in Seneca Township, Kossuth County, Iowa. She passed away Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong, Iowa, at the age of 95 years.
She received her education in the Halfa and Armstrong area schools.
She married Vernon L. Pehrson of Swea City, Iowa, on Oct. 28, 1939. They farmed in the Swea City and Armstrong area’s until Vernon’s death in August of 1982. Leona moved into Armstrong and lived in Columbian Heights Apartments from January 1983 until June 2005. In her leisure time, Leona enjoyed sewing and she loved music. Because of a stroke she then entered Valley Vue Care Center where she remained until her death.
Leona was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong where in younger years she was active in church circle and church choir.
Survivors include three daughters: Nancy, Mrs. Tom Coleman of Fairmont, Minn.; Irene, Mrs. Don Miller of Burt, Iowa; Roberta, Mrs. Roger Jorgensen of Oologah, Okla.; eight grandchildren, Mark Larsen; Troy (Sandy) Larsen; Leann Larsen; Jon (Jodi) Miller; Jim (Gail) Miller; Jared (Krystal) Miller; Michelle (Jason) Cochran; Tracy Jorgensen; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Ella Zochert of Richfield, Minn.; sister-in-law, Mrs. Thelma Pehrson of Indianola, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers-in-law.
