Clinic for women slated
To the Editor:
We will host our second Tackle Pink/Tackle Them All Women’s Football Clinic from 5-9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, at Mahoney Field in Fairmont. This is an event for women of all ages to gain a better understanding of the game of football while promoting an awareness of all cancers.
Not one day passes when many of us hear of a friend, relative, family member or loved one being affected by this dreadful disease. Please join us in support of those affected and help them to be more comfortable in their treatments and journey here in Fairmont.
Proceeds will be split between the purchase of a chemo bed for the infusion lab in Fairmont and the youth football program.
The evening will begin at 5 p.m. with registration and shopping at various displays of women’s items such as jewelry, purses, cooking, cleaning supplies, candles, inspirational items, clothing and much more.
Coaches will introduce themselves and explain their role in the game.
Those who want to learn the simple drills of the game will proceed to the stations and others may choose to watch. This will hopefully help women understand the different aspects of the game.
After the drills, a team picture will be taken in the middle of the field with all participants. After the picture, there will more shopping and visiting with the coaches.
We will have some guest speakers share their thoughts on cancer and the journey one takes during recovery.
Door prizes will be handed out at a certain area of the field with the larger ones at the end of the evening.
Brochures are available at banks, grocery stores, Mayo Clinic Health System-Fairmont, Fairmont High School athletic office and various businesses throughout Fairmont. If you would like to be a vendor, donator, or if you have questions, please call Deb Heinrich at (507) 236-3287 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
