FAIRMONT – A Celebration of Life Service for Michael J. Foster, 54, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont.

Mike passed away Thursday morning, Aug. 8, 2013, at his home in Fairmont surrounded by his family.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Lakeview Funeral Home, Fairmont, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday.

Michael John Foster was born June 16, 1959, in Winnebago, Minn., the son of Warren and Ruth (Frankum) Foster. Mike grew up in Winnebago and was baptized and confirmed in 1973 at the United Methodist Church in Winnebago. Mike graduated from Winnebago High School in 1977. After high school, Mike attended and graduated from Austin Vo-Tech in Radio-TV, Announcing and Broadcasting. Mike was united in marriage to Deborah Wille on May 19, 1979, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. They made their home in Fairmont, where Mike was the Information Technology Director for the City of Fairmont for the past 25 years.

Mike was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Fairmont Jaycees, Uptown Kiwanis, Civic Summer Theatre, Fairmont Glows, Fairmont Festival and Events Committee, board member of the Salvation Army, Fairmont Area High School Theatre productions and a reporter for the Focus on Fairmont program. He was also involved and active in the MN DFL party. Mike received his private pilot license in 2005.

Those who will cherish and honor his memory include his wife, Deb Foster of Fairmont; two daughters, Amber Ruda and her husband, Steve, of Hartford, S.D., Angie Brewer and her husband, Jason, of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, Matthew and Gracie Ruda of Hartford, S.D.; sister, Cheryl Kelly of Winnebago; two brothers, Rick Foster of Winnebago and Randy Foster of Fairmont; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bev and George Worshek of Jackson, Minn.; sisters-in-law, Judy Wille (Tory Gustafson) of Fairmont, Kathy and Jarrod Vagle of Rochester, Minn,; brother-in-law, Russ Wille of Mankato; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his daughter, Jamie Lynn Foster; his parents, Warren and Ruth Foster; brother, Tim Foster; and father-in-law, Jim Wille.
