FAIRMONT – Services for Marilyn J. Bowman, 84, of Fairmont will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church, Ayrshire, Iowa, with the Rev. Neil Hayen, officiating. Interment will be in Silver Lake Cemetery, Ayrshire, Iowa.
Marilyn Jeannine Bowman went home to be with her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System, Fairmont. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg and from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday morning at Zion Lutheran Church in Ayrshire. Martin-Mattice Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Marilyn was born Feb. 6, 1929, in Sioux Rapids, Iowa, and grew up in Ayrshire, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church and was a lifetime member. Marilyn received her education at Ayrshire Consolidated School. She married her childhood sweetheart, Bob Bowman, on Sept. 28, 1947. They made their home in Ayrshire until retiring to Fairmont, Minn., in 1995. Marilyn helped Bob with a lot of carpentry work and drove school bus for 37 years. She also cooked at the Ayrshire School and Stub’s Ranch Kitchen. Marilyn was active in her church, where she taught Sunday School for 20 years and played the organ for countless church services. Marilyn loved to dance and taught many young girls to tap dance. She loved helping anyone in need, baking and cooking for her family, and loved animals, especially her dog Buddy and Darrold’s horse and cats. She is survived by daughter, Gayle (Steve) Zoch; sister, Dolores (Norm) Laue; brother, Darrold Mohr; brother, Harley (Ruby) Mohr; precious grandchildren, Jeremy (Jenette) Zoch, Justin (Whitney) Zoch, Allison Zoch (fianc, Dave Levy), Ryan (Katherine) Clark, Ashley (Ryan) Smith, Whitney (Joshua) Smith, and Blake Clark; eleven dear great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Larry Clark; sister-in-law, Shirley Smith; brother-in-law, Junior Bowman; daughter-in-law, Brenda Pomeroy and her sons, Casey, Shane and Calvin; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Bowman; daughter, Sherry Clark; parents, Herb and Bertha (Mangold) Mohr; sister, Ruth Goodchild; sisters-in-law, Ruth Mohr and Joyce Mohr; brother-in-law, Bud Goodchild; foster son, Dale Pomeroy; and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
