Lanore King

FAIRMONT – Mass of Christian Burial for Lanore King, 94, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Fairmont. Interment will be in St. Luke’s Catholic Cemetery, Sherburn, Minn.

Lanore passed away Sunday morning, July 28, 2013, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials are preferred to the St. John Vianney School Endowment Fund.

Mary Lanore King was born Aug. 16, 1918, in Granada, Minn., the daughter of Charles and Mathilda (Hinsberger) Johnson. In 1925, the family moved to Jackson, Minn., before moving to Sherburn, Minn., where her father was a depot agent for the Chicago-Milwaukee Railroad. Lanore graduated from Sherburn High School in 1936. She furthered her education at the University of Minnesota, School of Business where she graduated in 1938. Lanore was united in marriage to John Mee in 1942 in Minneapolis. This union was blessed with two sons, Thomas and Timothy. The couple resided in Raleigh, N.C., where Lanore was a private secretary to the Administrator of Wake Memorial Hospital. She also did volunteer office work at the Catholic Orphanage in Raleigh. Lanore and John shared 27 years together before John passed away in 1968. Lanore then returned home to Minnesota to care for her aged mother. In 1976, Lanore was united in marriage to Les Larson in Sherburn, Minn. The couple shared 11 years together before Les passed away in 1987. While living in Sherburn, Lanore worked as a secretary for the DAC and for the handicapped. Lanore was united in marriage to Scoby King in 1994, in Fairmont. Lanore and Scoby shared 12 years together before Scoby died in 2006. Lanore was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont where she was active with the St. Francis Circle. She was also a member of the Martin County V.F.W. Auxiliary, Sherburn American Legion Auxiliary, Fox Lake Golf Club as well as volunteering at the Fairmont Hospital. Left to cherish her memory include her sons, Thomas Mee and his wife, Roslyn of Shreveport, La., and Timothy Mee and his wife, Alison of Chapel Hill, N.C.; grandchildren, Katie Scipione (Pete), Dr. Jim Cotter (Nicole), Carie Hart (Travis), Anna Abigail Mee, and Marisa Mee; four great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter and one on the way; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Johnson of Mankato, Minn., and Annabelle King of Fairmont, Minn.; nieces, Roberta Duggan (Norm) of Blue Earth, Minn., and Susan Motl (Bill) of Ariz.; nephew, Dr. Stan Johnson of Minneapolis, Minn.; many other relatives and friends. Along with her parents, Charles and Mathilda Johnson, Lanore was preceded in death by her husband, John Mee; husband, Les Larson; husband, Scoby King; sister, Gertrude Johnson; and brothers, Richard Johnson, and Robert Johnson.
