SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – A funeral service for Raymond Steen, 79, of Sheboygan, will be 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, at Zion Covenant Church, Sheboygan, Wis., with Rev. Andrew Hopp officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton, Wis.
Raymond died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at his home, having battled cancer for 14 months. Family and friends may gather 2-4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church, 1125 N. Sixth St., Sheboygan. Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, Sheboygan, is serving the family.
Raymond was born Nov. 29, 1933, in Monterey (Trimont), Minn., to John A. and Elsie (Potratz) Steen. He married Gladys Stanton on Sept. 12, 1953, in Trimont, Minn.
Survivors are: his wife, Gladys; son, Duane (Linda) Steen of Sheboygan; grandchildren, the joy of his life, Elizabeth (Peter) Tait of Abrams, Wis., Emily (fianc Greg Melin) Steen, Sarah Steen and Benjamin Steen, all of Sheboygan. Other survivors are brother, Merville (Bonnie) Steen of Jackson, Minn.; sisters, Dorothy Kvestad, of Faribault, Minn., and Mary Ann (Roland) Philipp of Welcome, Minn.; brothers-in-law, Wayne (Arladyne) Stanton of Trimont, Minn., and Ralph (Maureen) Stanton of Welcome, Minn.; a sister-in-law, Darlene (Gordon) Breitbarth of Calif.; an aunt, Lorraine Stanton of Mapleton, Minn.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Raymond was preceded in death by his children, Diane and Douglas Steen; his parents; father and mother-in-law, Art and Lorna Stanton; a brother-in-law, Arden Kvestad; and a nephew, John Kvestad.
A memorial fund has been established in Raymond’s name.
