Wardean I. ‘Myrt’ White
FAIRMONT – Funeral services for Wardean I. “Myrt” White, 89, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 19, at the United Methodist Church in Fairmont. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont.
Wardean passed away Saturday morning, July 13, 2013, at the Lutz Wing Nursing Home in Fairmont. Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Fairmont.
Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is handling the arrangements for the family.
Wardean Iona “Myrt” Vanlerberghe was born Aug. 8, 1923, in Florence, Minn., the daughter of Cyril and Charollete (Wetstine) Vanlerberghe. She attended country school near Marshall, Minn., then in the Verndale, Minn. area. On Dec. 22, 1943, she was united in marriage to Paul “Pat” White at the White family farm near Verndale. After their marriage, they farmed near Verndale and moved to Truman in the late 1940s where Wardean cleaned houses. In 1967, they moved to Fairmont. Pat passed away on May 1, 1991. Wardean moved to the Goldfinch Estates in April of 2010.
Wardean was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Ladies Aid. While living in Truman; she was a band booster and drove in parades.
She is survived by two children, Larry White and his wife, Carolyn, of Truman, and Kathy Swanson and her husband, Don, of Swea City, Iowa; four grandchildren, Amy Momodu (Haruna) of Bear, Del., Andrea Willner (Bill) of Truman, Erin Swanson of Graettinger, Iowa, and Kayla Swanson of Swea City, Iowa; two great- grandchildren, McKayla and Farida; two sisters, Irene Tople of Waubon, Minn., and Gladys Johnson of Elk River, Minn.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Wardean was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Gordon Vanlerberghe; and one sister, Elvina Schroeder.
