Warriors cage the Bulldogs

BANCROFT – The North Union Warriors baseball team erupted for 10 runs as they cruised past the Algona Bulldogs 10-3 on Thursday in Bancroft.

Brandon Kollasch went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, including an RBI double to lead the Warriors offensive explosion.

Jake Adams had a pair of singles, going 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and an RBI.

Spencer Ricke also had an RBI double, going 2-for-3 and scoring twice for the winning Warriors.

Cody Runksmeier smacked a double, driving in a pair of runs for North Union, while Garrett Johnson drove in a pair of RBIs on a single.

In addition to his offensive efforts, Kollash also pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing one run on six hits, striking out three and walking one to earn the win.

Colin Runksmeier, who started on the mound for the Warriors, pitched 1 2/3 innings, giving up two runs on four hits, walking two and striking out one to take the no decision.

The Bulldogs’ Tyler Friders scored two of Algona’s three runs, while getting two hits and driving in an RBI.

Landon Rash delivered 3 1/3 innings of work, giving up five earned runs on 11 hits and striking out one to absorb the loss.

Chandler Holmes pitched the final 2 2/3 innins, allowing five runs on three hits with four strikeouts in relief.

North Union (16-7) travels for a game against Newman Catholic today in Mason City.
