Michael Eugene Fisher was born Oct. 19, 1977, in Fairmont, Minn., the son of Larry and Louise (Smith) Fisher. He received his education at North Kossuth schools and Iowa Lakes Community College. Michael made his home in Swea City and was a volunteer coach for North Kossuth High School football teams from 1997 until 2011. He was the self-appointed sidewalk superintendent of Swea City, overseeing any and all building, demolition, repair and construction project happenings in the community. Dirt track, Nascar racing, the Iowa Hawkeyes and football were his passion. He enjoyed playing video games, Wii and Playstation, especially with his cousins, niece and nephews, as well. Mike embraced life. At all the events he attended, the people he met always made a lifelong impression. He remembered names and the particular event he’d met them, even having never seen them again. Most of all, his fondest memories were of the “football guys” and coaches he helped, literally counting the days from the last game to summer camp the following year. This was true of his racing love as well. Michael was a member of the United Methodist Church in Swea City.
Left to cherish Michael’s memory are his parents, Larry and Louise Fisher of Swea City; sister, Heather Schiltz and her husband John; nieces and nephews, Madelyn, Andrew and Nicholas Schiltz; grandmother, Dorothy Smith; and many aunts, uncles, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mavis and Chester Fisher; Omar Smith; his cousin, Marc Graham; and infant brother, Timmy.
