May E. Schock
FAIRMONT – Funeral services for May E. Schock, 90, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fairmont, with interment in Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont.
May passed away Sunday morning, May 19, 2013, at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church Friday.
May Edith (Schott) Schock was born May 7, 1923, in Fairmont, Minn. She was the daughter of Anthony and Sarah (Luckow) Schott. She attended school in Fairmont. On Feb. 21, 1951, May was united in marriage to Robert Schock in Fairmont. The couple resided in Fairmont before moving to Oregon. In 1962, the couple moved to Guckeen, Minn., and later returned to Fairmont before moving to Granada, Minn. May was busy raising five children as well as working at Lu’s Dress Store until her retirement. She enjoyed trips with Bob all over the U.S. They used to do a lot of fishing, camping, playing cards, gardening and going to casinos. May loved music and enjoyed her life. She loved her family like no other and was the best mother that anyone could ask for. She will be missed. May and Robert shared 61 years together before Bob passed away on April 6, 2013. May was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fairmont. She was also a past president of the Eagles Club and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Linda Strauser and her husband, Dale of Granada, Minn.; sons, Jerry Ash of Tofte, Minn., Darryl Schock and his wife, Coleen of Granada, Minn., and Randy Schock of Fairmont, Minn.; daughter-in-law, Sandy Ash of Swea City, Iowa; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Charlotte Lutterman and her husband, Vern of Dodge Center, Minn., Dianne Larson of Fairmont, and Carol Williamson and her husband, Harvey of Estherville, Iowa; brother, Louis Schott and his wife, Marilyn of Fairmont, Minn.; brothers-in-law, Lyle Schock of Estherville, Delos Schock and his wife, Marge of Blue Earth, Minn., and Lawrence Whitman of East Chain, Minn.; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Along with her parents, Anthony and Sarah Schott, May was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Schock; son, Ralph Richard Ash Jr.; daughter-in-law, Elaine Ash; sisters, Mildred Senne, Marie Angstrom and Alma Schott; brothers, Bud Schott, Bobby Schott, Jack Schott, and Walter Schott; sisters-in-law, Hilda Schott, Mary Schott, Maxine Whitman, and Mary Schock; brothers-in-law, Cleo Larson, Richard Senne, and Louis Angstrom.
