Marthe Becker

NORTHROP – Funeral services for Marthe Becker, 69, of Northrop, Minn., will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2013, at St. James Lutheran Church in Northrop, Minn. Burial will follow in the St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Marthe passed away Tuesday evening, May 14, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System, Fairmont. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.

Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is in charge of the arrangements.

Marthe Alexendrine Mireille Latu was born on Nov. 4, 1943, in Poitiers, France, the daughter of Rene’ and Marie (Gastelier) Latu. She grew up in Poitiers and this is where she attended school. On Aug. 31, 1963, Marthe was united in marriage to Arlyn Becker in Poitiers, France. After Arlyn was discharged from the U.S. Army, they moved to Fairmont for a short time before building a house in Northrop. In the early 1970s they moved to the Becker family farm east of Northrop where they farmed and had raised three children:?Donna, Chris and Dan. Marthe loved her animals on the farm and often took in stray animals and cared for them. Marthe worked at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Truman for many years before working in housekeeping at the Fairmont Medical Center. She was also proud to be a Northrop First Responder and a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Northrop.

Those who will cherish her memory include her husband, Arlyn Becker of Northrop; three children, Donna Becker of Fairmont, Chris Becker and his wife Callee, of Fairmont, and Dan Becker and his wife Tammy of Granada; six grandchildren:?Noah, Eden, Seth and Beau Becker of Fairmont, and Rorey and Jacob Becker of Granada; mother-in-law, Lucille Becker of Fairmont; three sisters, Renee Lettiere and her husband Bill of Melbourne, Fla., Yanca Reynolds and her husband Dan of Covington, Ga., and Henriette Blackwell of Clinton, Wash.; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Lana and Tim Schaefer of Burnsville, Minn., and Gin Becker of Chanhassen, Minn.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Rene’ and Marie Latu, and father-in-law, Wilbert Becker, Marthe was preceded in death by one grandson, Chase Becker; two sisters, Francine Bourdier and Marcelle Fouin; two brothers, Serge Latu and Jean Latu; brothers-in-law, Darrell Becker and Roy Blackwell.

Memorials are preferred to the Martin County Humane Society, Martin Luther High School or St. James Lutheran School.
