Waseca zips B.E. Area

BLUE EARTH – Class A, No. 5-ranked Waseca swept Blue Earth Area, 7-0, during South Central Conference tennis action Monday in Blue Earth.

John Lewer and Ben Johnson netted wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles by defeating Eric Purvis, 6-0, 6-1, and Jaron King, 6-1, 6-0, respectively.

Dakota Johnson downed Ben Gettis at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-1, before Matt Wendland downed Cole Klinksiek at fourth singles, 6-2, 6-1.

Josh Kimball and Josh Metzdorff teamed at No. 1 doubles for a 6-0, 6-2 win over Martin Granados and Chandler Kienitz, while Michael Butterfield and Andy Haley secured a 6-2, 6-0 win over Trenton Stindtman and Spencer Petersen at No. 2.

Collin Diedrich and John Janssen completed the doubles sweep with a victory over Mason Hehr and Spenser Timmerman, 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 3 spot in the lineup.

Blue Earth Area (0-7, 0-5 SCC) travels to Worthington today for a 4:30 p.m. nonconference meet.
