Knights double up Bucs, 4-2

BLUE EARTH – Dylan Petrowiak combined a potent bat with solid relief pitching to guide the Martin Luther/ Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman Knights to a 4-2 win over the Blue Earth Area Bucs during non-league baseball action on Monday in Blue Earth.

Petrowiak went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles to drive in one run to complement scoring one run.

The Knights’ right-hander also struck out one and walked one while pitching hitless and scoreless sixth and seventh innings to earn the victory.

Chandler Greier delivered an RBI double for the Knights, Josh Wolter singled and scored, while Jeremy Smith added a sacrifice fly.

Greier gave up two earned runs on three hits in three innings of work. Greier fanned one and walked two.

Smith pitched two perfect innings of relief before turning over the mound duties to Petrowiak.

The Knights plated two runs in the top of the seventh to snap the 2-all tie and swung the pitching victory to Petrowiak.

David Franta collected two hits to top the Bucs, Carter Hanson singled home a run, while Dallas Barslou singled and scored.

Franta allowed four runs – two earned – on four hits, fanned seven, walked one and hit three in seven innings to take the loss.

Martin Luther/GHEC/ Truman (8-4, 2-2 Valley) travels to Alden today.

Blue Earth Area (3-8) hits the road to Waseca today.
