North Union tracksters gain state

ARMSTRONG – One North Union sprinter and a pair of Warrior relay teams will be competing in this week’s Iowa Class 2A state track & field meet in Des Moines.

MaKayla Hardman will hit the Drake Stadium’s surface in the 100-meter dash’s preliminaries at 4:20 p.m. Thursday. The North Union freshman phenom posted a qualifying time of 13.57 seconds during last Thursday’s District 2 Meet in Emmetsburg.

Jordan Guerdet, Emily Hagebock, Sara Rolling and Allie Ingalls will combine forces during the 4×100-meter shuttle hurdle relay’s prelims at 7:40 p.m. Thursday. Ashley Olson and Emma Engelby will serve as the alternates.

The Warriors’ shuttle hurdle foursome posted a qualifying time of 1:12.24 during last week’s district competition.

Brian Becker, Aric Runge, Jake Adams and Matt Adams will trade handoffs for North Union in Thursday’s 5:40 p.m. 4×800 relay finals. Lucas Hardman and Joey Stauffer will serve as the alternates.

The Warriors’ quartet combined for a qualifying time of 8:26.51 during last week’s districts.
