Elaine R. Rudolph

EAST CHAIN – Services for Elaine R. Rudolph, 91, of East Chain, Minn., will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2013, at East Chain Evangelical Free Church, with interment in the church cemetery.

Elaine passed away Thursday afternoon, April 18, 2013, at Trimont Health Care Center. Visitation will be 4-7:30 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Elaine Ruth (Hallstrom) Rudolph was born Nov. 23, 1921, in Martin County, Minn., the daughter of Albert and Esther (Ackerson) Hallstrom. Elaine received her education at Spire Country Schoolhouse in Martin County. She then attended Fairmont High School and graduated in 1939. Elaine furthered her education at Mankato Commercial College. On Nov. 24, 1945, Elaine was united in marriage to Clemens “Clem” Rudolph at the East Chain Evangelical Free Church. This union was blessed with five children. Elaine and Clem owned and operated the East Chain Hatchery for 28 years. They also farmed in Pleasant Prairie and Fairmont Townships for more than 20 years. Elaine also worked at Sterling Drug in Fairmont for fourteen years. Elaine and Clem shared 57 years together before Clem passed away on July 1, 2003.

Elaine was a member of East Chain Evangelical Free Church, where she was active with the W.M.S. She was also a member of the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 Auxiliary, Martin County VFW Post 1222 Auxiliary, and was a past commander of the State of Minnesota D.A.V. Auxiliary. During her free time, Elaine enjoyed reading and embroidery.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Charles (Evelyn) Rudolph of East Chain, Kathleen (William) Raine of East Chain, Donald (Rhonda) Rudolph of Trimont, and Michael (Mary) Rudolph of Hudson, Wis.; daughter-in-law, Vickie Rudolph of Eden Prairie, Minn.; grandchildren, Tammy (Tom) Lowery, Shelley (Jeff) Hanson, Jason (Heather) Rudolph, Meloni Rudolph, Aaron (Astrida) Rudolph, Amy (Dan) Buskerud, Nathan (Gina) Rudolph, Christa (Nicholas) Smith, Guy Rudolph (Mallory Christenson), Michella (Joe) DeBaun, Benjamin (Abbey) Rudolph, Amanda (Wesley) Geving, and Dustin (Tara) Rudolph; 20 great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren, Melanie Raine, Judy (Chris) Olson, Sue Raine, and Amy (Nathan) Anders; eight step grandchildren; four step great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Donna Conrad of Amboy, Minn., and Nancy (Harvey) Madsen of East Chain; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Rudolph of Belvidere, Ill., Carolyn (Roger) Grant of Plymouth, Minn., and Betty Meyer of Arlington, Texas; brother-in-law, Seif (Jan) Meyer of West Hills, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Along with her parents, Albert and Esther Hallstrom, Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Clem Rudolph; son, Melvin Rudolph; brother, John Hallstrom; sister, Joan Hockert; brothers-in-law, Alvin Conrad, Raymond Mikalson, Almon Meyer, Vince Meyer, Harold Meyer, Jim Brady, Delmar Rudolph, and Les Hockert; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Hallstrom, Birdie Meyer, and Ruth Meyer; and niece, Lisa Madsen.
