Snow, rain curbs more events
FAIRMONT – Rain, sleet and snow throughout southern Minnesota this week have caused area athletic directors to postpone, reschedule and/or cancel numerous sporting events originally slated for Thursday, today and Saturday.
o The Fairmont baseball team will host Blue Earth Area at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4, at Wolf Park. The game was originally set for Thursday.
The Cardinals will also host Worthington in a nonconference game at 4 p.m. Monday, May 6. The game was originally slated for 5 p.m. today.
o The Fairmont softball team will host Blue Earth Area in a 4:30 p.m. doubleheader on Thursday, May 9, at Cardinal Park. The original contest was set for Thursday in Blue Earth.
o The Madelia/Truman softball squad will host Alden-Conger in a 4:30 p.m. doubleheader on Monday, May 6, in Madelia. The contest was originally slated Thursday in Alden.
o The Blue Earth Area boys tennis team will travel to St. James for a 4:30 p.m. dual meet on Tuesday, April 23. The original meet was to be played Thursday.
o The Blue Earth Area boys golfers will join the Buc girls team as part of the New Ulm Invitational at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at the New Ulm Country Club. The boys were originally scheduled to play Thursday.
o The Blue Earth Area baseball team will travel to New Richland for a 5 p.m. game against New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva on Monday, May 20. The original game was set for today.
o The Martin County West baseball team’s game against United South Central – slated for today in Wells – has been cancelled.
o The Fairmont boys and girls golfers will compete in the Jordan Invitational at Ridges @ Sand Creek in Jordan on Friday, May 10, and Saturday, May 11. The event was originally set for today and Saturday.
o The North Union boys track & field team’s meet today in Armstrong and the Warrior girls’ squad’s meet today in Estherville, Iowa, have been cancelled.
o The North Union boys and girls golfers’ meet today at the Spencer Municipal Golf Course has been cancelled.
