Raymond R. Zierke
MINNEAPOLIS – Services for Raymond R. Zierke, 79, of Minneapolis, formerly of Elmore, were held Tuesday, April 16, at St John Lutheran Church in Elmore with Pastor Dale Kohrs officiating. Burial was at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Elmore.
Raymond died April 13, 2013, at St. Bene-dictine Health Care Center in Minneapolis. Jacobsen and Winter Funeral Home in Blue Earth assisted the family with arrangements.

Raymond Roger Zierke was born July 6, 1933, in Elmore, Minn., to Albert and Edna (Ahrens) Zierke. He grew up and attended school in Elmore. In December 1954, he married Marjorie Jensen and to this union, they were blessed with four children. Raymond also served his country with the U.S. Army from 1954-1956, earning the National Defense Service Medal.
After returning from the military, Raymond farmed until 1962 and then moved to Minneapolis, where he worked for Pepsi Cola. He then returned to Elmore and continued in the farming industry. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan.
Raymond is survived by his loving children, Katherine (Kent) Peel of Fridley, Minn., Cynthia (Paul) Katchmark of Coon Rapids, Minn., and Roger (Kathy) Zierke of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; his sister, Dorothy (Dean) Zielske of Swea City, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard; sister, Burdean Hagedorn; and daughter, Debra Nicholson.
