John S. Osberg

FAIRMONT – Memorial services for John S. Osberg, 60, of Duluth, Minn., will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2013, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Burial will follow the service in the Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, Fairmont.

John passed away Thursday evening, March 14, 2013, at his home in Duluth, Minn. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.

Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

John Steven Osberg was born Aug. 8, 1952, in Blue Earth, Minn., the son of Lawrence and Helen (Stoufer) Osberg. He attended Elmore High School and graduated in 1970. Following his graduation, John attended the University of Minnesota and Brown Institute. In 1972, John began his employment with Univac/ Unisys in Eagan, Minn., as a test engineer. He later transferred to Clearwater, Fla., where he remained for over 25 years. In 2003, John moved to Inver Grove Heights, Minn., where he worked in maintenance for Travel Tags. John later moved to Duluth, Minn., where he remained until his death. John was a fishing enthusiast and loved sailing his catamaran on Tampa Bay. He played pool, enjoyed cooking, was an avid gardener and volunteered at a Duluth senior center. John was a beloved son, brother, and uncle and will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Dave Osberg and wife, Dianne, of Rapid City, S.D., Mary Lee and her husband, Ken of Humboldt, Iowa, and Suzanne Ristau and her fianc, Jim, of Burnsville, Minn.; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

John was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Osberg; mother, Helen Oswald; step-father, Maynard Oswald; and a nephew, John Heetland.
