John D. Malone

JACKSON – Mass of Christian burial for John D. Malone, 96, of Jackson, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Church of the Good Shepherd in Jackson, with military rites by the Jackson American Legion and VFW posts. Burial will be at a later date.

Malone died Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Fairmont.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass on Saturday at the church.

John Daniel Malone was born Feb. 28, 1917, in Madison, S.D., son of John W. and Erna (Fischer) Malone. He served in the National Guard from 1933 to 1936 while in high school. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1943, and served during World War II until he was honorably discharged in 1946.

Survivors include: his wife of 72 years, Mickey of Jackson; daughter, Molly Sauder of Jackson; sons, Patrick Malone of Tucson, Ariz., and Michael Malone of Tucson, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, Carol Malone of Mankato; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Leila Hier of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Loretta Berryman of Eveleth, Minn.
