Timmy ‘Joe’ J. Butler
MADISON, Wis. – Timmy “Joe” J. Butler, age 53, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at University Hospital in Madison, Wis., after a courageous battle with hepatitis C and liver cancer.
He was born in Madison, Wis., on July 15, 1959, to Harry and Nancy (Reis) Butler. Joe attended Adams-Friendship Schools and later enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1976 until 1979. He married Rebecca Smith on March 7, 1992. Joe loved all outdoor activities, fishing, riding his motorcycle and was known for his colorful character and his catch phrase “CHA-CHING!”
He is survived by his wife, Becky; three children, Selena Winchester, Shannon Butler and Kalan Butler; two grandchildren, Calley and Demitria; his father, Harry Butler; four siblings, Terri (Dan), Jimmy (Lisa), Bill (Carrie), Kelly (Stacey); and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Garrett; and his mother, Nancy.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at Merrimac United Methodist Church. Military honors will be provided by the Lachmund-Cramer VFW Post 7694. A visitation will be held 3-5 p.m. Thursday at the church. A gathering will follow the service.
Joe’s family would like to thank all of the first responders from Baraboo, Merrimac and Sauk Prairie. Memorials may be made in Joe’s name to the Merrimac Food Pantry.
