Dorotha E. Schavey

BLUE EARTH – Funeral services for Dorotha E. Schavey, 94, of Blue Earth, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Emerald Township, Minn., with Rev. Wesley Hafner officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Dorotha passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th S., Blue Earth, and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.

Dorotha E. Wagar was born March 5, 1918, at Silver Lake Township in Martin County, Minn., the daughter of Byron and Ada (Bartlett) Wagar. She graduated from East Chain High School in 1936. She married Marvin W. Schavey on June 25, 1940, at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Parsonage in Fairmont. She worked 29 years at the United Hospital Districts as a cook and dietary manager. She loved collecting recipes, and won many recipe contests in and around Blue Earth. She loved sewing, quilting, making lap quilts for United Hands Hospice. She was a past president, and secretary for the church ladies aide, volunteering for many years.

Dorotha is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Norm) Wille of Red Wing, Minn.; son, Paul (Mary) Schavey of Blue Earth; son, Dan (Paula) Schavey of Blue Earth; son, Glen Schavey of Mankato; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; brother, John (Nancy) Wagar of Fairmont; sister, Geneva Wood of Granada; brother in law, Russell (Delores) Schavey of Blue Earth.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Thomas; parents; and brother, Donald Wagar.
