Mavericks deal loss to Trojans

SHERBURN – Cordell Weber scored a game-high 28 points to help pace the Martin County West Mavericks to a 55-54 victory over the Worthington Trojans in a battle of Section 3AA basketball titans on Tuesday in Sherburn.

Austin Krumwiede tallied eight points along with seven rebounds and seven assists for MCW, while Jake Faber recorded seven points.

Kyle Brolsma netted three points and snagged six boards for MCW.

Marcus Potter scored 14 points to lead the Trojans, while teammates Morgan Traylor and Spencer Grafing added 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Martin County West went 11 of 25 shooting from inside the arc, while making 6 of 18 from 3-point land.

The Mavericks shot 75 percent from the free throw line, making 15 of 20 attempts, while the Trojans made 10 of 14.

Martin County West (18-5) travels to Windom for a nonconference game on Thursday.

Worthington (14-8) travels to Morgan for a nonconference game against Cedar Mountain-Comfrey on Friday.

Truman/Martin Luther 65, Madelia 48 – Chandler Greier erupted for 21 points, while Alex Weihe added 19 to lead the BluejayKnights to a 65-48 Valley Conference victory over the Blackhawks on Tuesday in Madelia.

DaMarko Thomas added 13 points for TML’s winning efforts.

Jack Bergeman tallied 14 points, while teammate Jordan Henry scored 10 to lead the Blackhawks.

Riley Benzel grabbed six rebounds for Madelia in the game.

The BluejayKnights made 23 of 64 shots from the floor, and went 10-for-17 from the free throw line in the win.

Truman/Martin Luther (13-11) travels to Northrop for a game against Granada-Huntley-East Chain on Thursday.
