USC nets win over GHEC

WELLS – Junior forward Tara Bauman delivered a game-leading 12 points to engineer the United South Central Rebels’ 44-25 victory over the Granada-Huntley-East Chain Mustangs during nonconference basketball action on Monday night in Wells.

Sophomore guard Taylor Schultz added 11 points for the Rebels, who built a 36-11 halftime advantage.

Freshman post player Rachel Shumski scored nine points to top the Mustangs’ offensive charts, while senior forward Amanda Cegelske pulled down six rebounds on the night.

The Mustangs connected on 10 of 33 shots from the floor and only 3 of 6 at the free throw line.

Granada-Huntley-East Chain (15-7) plays host to Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s at 6 p.m. Friday at East Chain School.

United South Central (15-10) hits the road to Hayfield on Thursday night.
