Dwaine P. Kurseth

WELCOME – Memorial services for Dwaine P. Kurseth, 83, of Welcome, Minn., will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont, with inurnment in Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont.

Dwaine passed away Friday morning, Feb. 15, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Fairmont. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, and one hour prior to the services Monday at the church.

Dwaine Perry Kurseth was born Sept. 21, 1929, in St. James, Minn., son of Casper and Mabel (Winch) Kurseth. He attended school in St. James until he and his family moved to Fairmont, Minn. He graduated from Fairmont High School in 1947. Dwaine furthered his education at Mankato State Teacher’s College and graduated in 1952.

In 1951, Dwaine was united in marriage to Shirley at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. This union was blessed with four children, Helen, Steven, Laurie and Mark. The couple lived in Mankato until Dwaine graduated from college, after which they moved to Welcome, Minn. Dwaine taught school in Welcome for 34 years. He also operated a used car lot for many years. Dwaine and Shirley loved camping with the children and traveled to 47 states together. Dwaine and Shirley shared 61 years together.

Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Shirley Kurseth of Welcome; children, Helen Rode and her husband, Wendell of Welcome, Steven Kurseth of Truman, Laurie Anderson and her husband, Dale of Welcome, and Mark Kurseth of Welcome; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.

Along with his parents, Casper and Mabel Kurseth, Dwaine is preceded in death by his grandparents.
