Myrna Elaine Mumme
ST. JAMES – Funeral services for Myrna Elaine Mumme, 78, of Waterville, Minn., formerly of St. James, Minn., will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at St. John Lutheran Church, rural St. James, Minn., with Rev. Matthew Rusert, officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery.
Myrna died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday at the Zaharia Family Funeral & Cremation Service of Truman, and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
Myrna Elaine Beer was born Dec. 28, 1934, in rural Wilton Junction, Iowa, daughter of Gerhardt and Eleonore (Staehr) Beer. She was reborn a child of God in the water of Holy Baptism on Jan. 20, 1935, at Zion Lutheran Church in Wilton Junction. She was confirmed in the Christian Faith on March 21, 1948, at Zion Lutheran Church in Wilton Junction. She received her high school diploma at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato in 1952.
Myrna worked as a legal secretary in Davenport, Iowa, and in Denver, Colo. Myrna was united in Holy Matrimony to Edgar Mumme on Aug. 11, 1963, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bennett, Iowa. They made their home in rural St. James. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in South Branch, where she had served as church secretary. Myrna enjoyed sewing, quilting, scrapbooking and family history.
She is survived by her husband, Edgar; one daughter, Mary (Sam) Erdman of Eagan; four sons, Mark (Beth) Mumme of Hardwick, Minn., Paul (Lori) Mumme of Plainfield, Ill., David (Glenda) Mumme and Matthew (Michele) Mumme, both of Waterville; 20 grandchildren; one brother, Marvin (Jean) Beer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two sisters, Donna (Lowell) Kitzmann of Bangor, Wis. and Barb (Allen) Webb of Eau Claire, Wis.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Daryl Beer of Pekin, Ill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
