Thousands die daily

To the Editor:

On Dec. 14, our nation saw a great tragedy in the shooting at Newtown, Conn. Anytime there is someone’s life taken in this manner, it is horrible. We know things like this should not happen, but the fact is, we live in an evil world and Satan is doing all he can to destroy as many as possible.

The cry now, of course, is to have greater gun control. However, if the facts are really taken into account, you will note that more gun control would not have changed the event in Newtown. It is not guns that kill people; it is the way people use them.

I was brought up with guns, learned how to use them and was told by my father that you never point a gun at anything that you do not want to shoot. That included guns that I may have thought were not loaded. I never once even thought about shooting people with the guns that I had.

With that said, I would like to move to a greater tragedy that is going on in this country and has been going on since Jan. 22, 1973, with the Rose v. Wade decision by the Supreme Court. It has taken a toll of 54 million babies. Yes, you read it right. If you don’t believe it, you can check the records. Abortion takes far more lives every day than were taken at Newtown. Again, I emphasize that any life taken in such a manner is too many.

But every day here in the United States, we are killing 4,000 babies. These unborn children are human beings, created by God Almighty and are just as much of a tragedy as those 20 children killed in Newtown.

Do I see the President or other leaders standing up and saying, “We need to stop the killing by abortion.” The answer is no. Instead, we see the federal government funding Planned Parenthood so it can continue to kill thousands of children every day. And now, with Obamacare, every citizen in the United States will have to help fund these abortions.

Why aren’t the American people “up in arms” about this just as much as they are about Newtown? If you care about this issue, contact the President and our members of Congress and tell them to quit funding Planned Parenthood.
