B.E. Area flattens Waseca

WASECA – The Blue Earth Area Bucs wrestling team converted 10 victories, including three falls, into a 63-21 South Central Conference dual-meet decision over the Waseca Bluejays on Friday night in Waseca.

The Bucs claimed the first six victories of the meet, with Adam Legred starting off with a 5-2 decision over Noah Schmidt at 106 pounds.

Blue Earth Area then claimed three straight forfeits – Camden Bowers (113), Alec Huber (120) and Jordan Stelter (126) – before Mike Ankeny was able to pin Sergio Garcia in just 56 seconds at 132.

Jesse Alleven followed with a pin of Jackson Julian in 23 seconds in the 138-pound match.

Martin Granados claimed the final pin for the Bucs at heavyweight, pinning Sam Sierra in 54 seconds.

The Bucs extended their lead with another streak of forfeits during the middle weights.

David Franta won by forfeit at 152, Class A No. 5-ranked Carter Hanson took a forfeit at 160, while Class A No. 9-ranked Gus Phillips took a forfeit at 170.

Waseca’s Class AA, No. 8-ranked Jacob Claybaugh [ommed Micah Twedt in 3:31 in the 220-pound match.

Blue Earth Area (8-3, 2-0 SCC) travels to Estherville, Iowa, today to compete in the Estherville-Lincoln Central Invitational.
