Julane F. Gripentrog

DUNNELL – A Celebration of Life service for Julane F. Gripentrog, 77, of North Mankato, Minn., formerly of rural Dunnell, Minn., will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sherburn, Minn., with Rev. Steven D. Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Lake Fremont Cemetery in rural Dunnell.

Jesus took Julane’s hand on Wednesday morning, Jan. 2, 2013, at her home in Oak Terrace Assisted Living in North Mankato, Minn. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Sherburn and one hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday. Julane Faye Jorgensen was born May 20, 1935, to Frank and Luella (Prust) Jorgensen in Ceylon. She was baptized on June 16, 1935, and later confirmed on April 10, 1949. Julane attended Sherburn-Dunnell Public School later graduating with the class of 1953. She then attended the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis and later was employed at the Federal Reserve Bank. On Oct. 3, 1954, she was united in marriage to Warren Gripentrog at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dunnell. After their marriage, they farmed in Lake Fremont Township from 1954 until 1971. Julane then was employed at Natural’s and later at Sperry-Univac both of Jackson. She then was employed at Behne’s Trucking in Sherburn. Warren died on July 16, 2005. She continued living on the farm in Lake Fremont Township until in June of 2010 she moved to Oak Terrace Assisted Living in North Mankato to be near her family. Julane was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn. She was very active in its Ladies Aid, Bible Study and enjoyed just volunteering there. In her spare time, she enjoyed scrapbooking and working in her flower garden. All holidays were very special to her. She cherished her time with her children, grandchildren, brothers and in laws and was always looking forward to family reunions.

She will be greatly missed by her family: son, Rick Gripentrog of Minneapolis; daughter, Rita (Gaylord) Martin of Madison Lake; daughter-in-law, Mary Gripentrog of Sioux Falls, S.D.; four grandchildren, Christopher Delaney, Brett and Elizabeth Gripentrog and fianc, Matt Sauer, and Jessica Martin-Johnson and her husband, Matt; two great-grandsons, Brody Gripentrog and Lukas Johnson; brothers, Donald (Claudia) Jorgensen of Bella Vista, Ark., Kenneth (Margaret) Jorgensen of San Antonio, Texas; Frank Jr. (Sue) Jorgensen of rural Dunnell, Gene (Nell) Jorgensen of Bethesda, Md., Tom (Kathy) Jorgensen of Chandler, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Katherine Erickson of North Mankato; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Julane was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Warren Gripentrog; son, Lon Gripentrog on June 27, 2009; sister, Phyllis Gilbertson; brother-in-law, Everett Erickson and other relatives.

Julane’s family suggests memorial contributions be to the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life or St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn.
